Business continuity planning
As technology becomes more complex, integrated into your business processes and fundamental to your success, your dependency on it grows – meaning even minor IT problems can have a disastrous impact on your business.
It is more important than ever to have a bullet proof business continuity plan and processes in place, so that your business never stops functioning – even when something unforeseen happens to your IT. If your business holds sensitive client data, you may be required to have robust business continuity procedures in place in order to meet compliance standards.

What do you do when disaster strikes?
Many companies have no comprehensive backup solutions in place, or solutions that leave out critical parts of the IT infrastructure. Too many businesses have a single point of failure in their backup process – such as a dependence on one person to ensure backup is taking place, and the process is manual and ad-hoc, rather than scheduled, automated and secure.
Even if backup is taking place, how would the business be affected by a disaster such as a fire or flood which destroys vital infrastructure? If your servers were destroyed by fire or water, you would need to source new hardware, install it, and then restore all of your data. This process could take days or even weeks.
During this period of downtime employees would be unable to work, but must still be paid while your sales diminish, your customers look elsewhere and your reputation dwindles. If you were unable to recover your data, you could easily find yourself out of business within a short time frame.

Advanced business continuity plans should be in place that utilise regular, scheduled and automated backups, backing up all of your data – ideally every 15 minutes. In the event of a disaster, the business should be able to run directly from the remote backup unit whilst data is being restored.
Cloud based backup using a secure datacentre is best as it is the most secure and reliable way to house data. There are also extremely reliable redundancy processes in place to ensure that data is never lost, and is always available.
How we can help
We will carry out a backup and security audit, ensuring that the proper processes, tools and practices are in place regarding business continuity. This can then be tested by running a disaster simulation scenario.
We will devise a tailored business continuity plan for your business, including all of the processes to follow, carry out full implementation of the project, identify key internal personnel, draw up a business continuity team and ensuring everyone knows how to work remotely and what to do in a disaster situation where your normal operating location is unavailable.
